We flew down to St. Lucia Thanksgiving of 2014, staying from a Thursday to a Monday.  Even though it's a Caribbean island , the official language is English.  It's a beautiful island to visit. The airport is a good 45 minute to 1 1/2 hours away from the beach resorts however.  Because of the terrain, most of the hotels and resorts are up on hills overlooking the beach.  We had 165 steps to go up and down getting there.  The food was great and we participated in the longest and most "comprehensive" wine tasting of our lives. Although we hung around and did nothing, there are lots of activities, zip lining, sailing, snorkeling, etc. to be experienced.  Delta has one direct flight a day(except on Tues & Wed).  Its 4 hours and 41 minutes, so it's not as close as some of the other islands but definitely worth a look.   We will probably go back again.
