Finland

Helsinki was the 5th stop on our 2007 Baltic Cruise on Silverseas.  In the morning, we visited Market Square, (shown above) a very lively and colorful tourist trap for cruise ship voyagers who land there daily.  We walked around Esplanade Park and had a very tasty lunch.  The only thing I remember of our meal was the lingonberry jam. It is a requirement to be on every plate of food in Finland.  In the afternoon we did a harbor and archipelago tour.  I wish we had more time to explore Finland.  It's a very clean, pristine country where lots of friendly, smiling people live.  Like most Scandanavian countries, English is required starting in elementary school and everyone is fluent.
