In June of 2018, we flew over to Maui for a 5 day getaway.  Delta can get you to Honolulu but we had to take a little rubber band plane for the 17 minute flight onward to Maui.  We had rented a 1 BR condo on Maalaea Beach (is it just me or do they need all those a's in the name?) which served us well.  The day after we arrived, we drove the iconic Road to Hana, which although only 37 miles one way, took us all day to get out and back.  There are just so many places to stop for incredible waterfalls (shown above), beaches, and topical lushness.  The next day we did a driving tour of the central mountain region of Maui ending up on Mt. Haleakala, the highest point on the island.  At over 10,000 feet above sea level it was cold and windy.   We hung around the pool and beach one day and flew back home all rested up.  Maui is a great place to visit, but just be advised that everything is super expensive.
